The Writer...

...although sharing the same name, is not the Steven from the show. Well it is, but in an it-isn't kind of way.

Steven Munn has been writing Our Gaff since 2009, and regularly declares writing to be "the best fun", which leads us to think that he needs to get out more.

Not only the writer, Steven also edits and produces the show and has created some of the music (the "Our Gaff" theme tune, midnight walk in the woods song in "Neighbourhood Watch" and more).

On the brief moments when he's lucid enough to respond, he tells us that his biggest influences in his writing style are Ray Galton & Alan Simpson - in fact Steven is a bit of a fan of pretty much everything they've ever written, but especially "Hancock's Half Hour" starring the great and sadly late Tony Hancock. "Our Gaff", we are told, is Steven's 'homage' to Hancock's Half Hour, when finding nothing similar - clean, family friendly but very funny - resolved to write his own. Early critics seem to agree that he's done a pretty good job so far.

In the words of an early critic review of "Our Gaff" Series Two:

"...Think 'Hancock' mixed with 'Carry On' with a touch of 'The League of Gentleman.' This, however, is certainly no copy! There is a respectful nod to what has gone before but 'Our Gaff' propels the genre into a new and totally original arena.

Steven Munn is the new tour-de-force heralding the resurgence of radio comedy.

'Our Gaff' is set to be massive. "
